9:00 AM – Tue, Jan 17, 2023 – Bike Ride
Marshall Porter will head an e bike ride. Information to follow
10:00 AM – Tue, Jan 17, 2023 – Hike to Q Mountain
Ken Marr is leading a 4 or 5 mile walk/hike, round trip to the top of Q Mountain. Hiking poles and sturdy shoes advised. The hike will start at the Rally Site, and cross Hwy 95 from La Posa North to LA Posa West, pass through La Posa West, cross the wash and follow an ATV trail to the Q-Mountain trailhead, then a steep, but short, hike up to the top of Q-Mountain and enjoy the wonderful panoramic views. Estimated time, 2 to three hours, depending upon attendees.
Maximum 15 Participants
10:00 AM – Tue, Jan 17, 2023 – Sketching with Amy
Amy Atkinson will instruct a watercolor sketching class at Quartzsite again this year. It’s a fun way to capture the feeling of a place you visit. Each participany (limited to 15) is requested to bring the following supplies:
* A pencil and/or pen with waterproof ink (Uniball Vision or Eye from office supply store)
* If you want to add color, bring colored pencils or markers, or watercolors (Prang children’s watercolors are a good but cheap way to start)
* Watercolor brush
* A container for water
* Watercolor paper (Canson is cheap and decent)
* If it’s windy, a couple of binder clips will come in handy.
* Hat
* Water
* Chair
Amy will put together a few little watercolor journals, but if there are more than a few wanting them she will have to charge for them to cover the costs. Amy will provide instructions on how to make a watercolor journal.
5:00 PM – Tue, Jan 17, 2023 – Rally Registration
Pick up your name tags and Rally sticker at Rally Central. Bring a beverage of your choice and a chair, and regale all who gather with tales of your adventure traveling to Q.
A camp fire is anticipated. Comraderie is guaranteed.
Wednesday, January 18, 2023
9:00 AM to 10:00 AM – Wed, Jan 18, 2023 – RV Electricity 101
The seminar will provide participants with a deeper understanding of the two primary electrical systems in the RV, and how the systems interact. An overview of the electrical system of our RV. Understanding terms. Volts, Amps and Watts, 120VAC, 12VDC, Storage and conversion from 12VDC to 120VAC.
What’s powered by each system. Where the energy comes from, different types of storage. Protection Devices.
10:00 AM to 11:00 AM – Wed , Jan 18, 2023 – Replacing Flat Solar Panels 200 level
The seminar will provide participants with the mechanics of removing, and replacing the flat panels found on 18.5+ RV’s. Requirements for participants: A general knowledge of how a multimeter operates. Basic Mechanical ability. If you can hang wallpaper, you can replace the panels.
An overview of the steps required to remove the solar panels, clean the roof, fill screw holes in the roof and repair the roof, if necessary, and mount the new panels.
An explanation of the items required, and the testing involved to determine if the installation was done correctly.
11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon – Wed , Jan 18, 2023 – Solar Panel Initial Install
The seminar will provide participants with an understanding of the process of installing solar panels on a RV that was not initially equipped
Requirements for participants: Medium mechanical skills. Use of wrenches, hex wrenches, and drills. The ability to caulk. Mechanical skills to remove panels and re-install. The ability to route wiring and tighten electrical connections and mechanical devices.

The talk will explain the terms, functions and names of the components compromising a solar panel system. An explanation of how the components interact. Providing a general overview of how components have to be matched for the various methods of installing a solar panel system.
The talk will provide an overview of the steps required to initially install solar panels on a View/Navion. The overview will describe the process of completing a solar panel assembly. The process of locating and drilling holes in the in the roof at the appropriate location. The suggested routing of output wires to the controller, and routing of controller output wires to the batteries.
12:30 PM to 5:00 PM – Wed , Jan 18, 2023 – Replacing Flat Solar Panel Demonstration
A practical demonstration of how to replace flat panels. Participant involvement will occur.
12:30 PM to 5:00 PM – Wed , Jan 18, 2023 – Solar Install – Initial Demonstration
Initial installation of a 400W Solar Panel system on Bob Irmiger’s 2016J.
From completing the solar panel assembly, mounting the panels, penetrating the roof, running the output wires, securing the converter, and connecting the output to the battery bus.
A group participation event, within reason and supervision.

Gather together and share the day’s events with your fellow campers. Beverages, snacks, and a fire are all encouraged. There will be a fire at Rally Central, but it gets pretty cold when everyone at the Rally stands around one fire. Enjoy your group, but wander around to neighboring groups and Rally Central, and introduce yourself. We’re all family, and you’ll be surprised at whom you meet.

8:00 AM to 10:00 AM – Thur, Jan 19, 2023 – Pancake Breakfast
The Pancake Breakfast will be held between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM, or whenever all 200 people have been served. We will be serving fresh cooked, light, fluffy pancakes, and delectable sausages.
Diners are requested to bring their own silverware, napkins, a chair and coffee. Tickets will be presold, starting on Monday, and will cost $5. Any profit will go to the View Navion Motorhomes Specialty WIT Group. There is a limit of 200 tickets.
Get on line, turn in your ticket, get a plate, and have it filled with a hot, delicious fresh pancakes and sausage. We do not anticipate selling tickets the morning of the event.
10:00 AM to 7:00 PM – Thur, Jan 19, 2023 – RV Decorating Contest
The contest is free to RV Decorating Participants. If you are interested in participating as a decorating contestant, email (wherervtraveling@gmail.com ) or text (303-519-1301 ) Norma Wagstaff your First Name, Last Name, Phone Number, Year and Model of your RV prior to the Rally.
Judges/Voters will need to purchase a $1.00 ticket per couple to to view and judge for the Winner(s). The winning Decorating Participant(s) will receive a gift/prize. Additionally, there will be a drawing of the voter/judge’s tickets, and a lucky voter/judge will receive a gift/prize as well. The proceeds from voting/judging tickets will be used for prizes for both contest winners and the lucky voter/judge.

10:00 AM to 11:30 AM – Friday, Jan 20, 2023 – Boho String Scarf Workshop
Gail Huhtamaki, the ‘Scarf Lady’ of Key West, will be hosting a workshop on how to make one of her classic String Scarf’s.
The scarves are popular with the rich and famous of the Keys, so this is a great workshop to attend. Participants should bring a size N-9.00MM crochet hook. Scissors and a 9”-11” cutting board from the Dollar Store will be useful. Gail will supply the ladder yarn from her partial spool stash. Used

Here’s the opportunity to meet in person the Administrators and Moderator of the View Navon Motorhomes Facebook Group. Bob Swor, Leonard Casella, and Bob Kelly will provide an overview of how the group works, and will field questions regarding moderating the group. Which of the administrators will attend Q will be a case of weather and whether the weather has crimped anyone’s travel plans.
Two Bob’s and Leonard in the same place, at the same time, it doesn’t happen often.

The Quartzsite Sports, Vacation, & RV Show will take place from January 21–29, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 5 PM daily. The show closes at 3:00 PM on the 29th , and is located at 700 S. Central Blvd, Quartzsite, AZ, 85346. it is just to the northwest of our area, and the Big Tent is visible from our location.
The Quartzsite RV Show promises to have informative seminars and workshops, all types of RVs on display, vendors with state-of-the-art camping gear, as well as industry experts who will answer any questions you might have. The Quartzsite RV Show is completely free to attend.
Some highlights:
Newpowa America will be discussing how to add solar panels to RVs and the necessary components of a DIY installation.
Lectric eBikes will be sharing the many benefits of ebikes.
