8:45 AM Group meeting at White Oak Park, LA. First group and independents leave at 9:15 AM to 9:30 AM. We will meet at the Sam Houston Jones State Park Group at The Lowes Center located at 305 S Cities Service Highway, Sulpher, LA, GPS 30 21.965 W -93 32.406. Park at the end of the parking lot closest to I 10.
We will be traveling down the Bolivar Peninsula and stopping at the Bolivar Free Beach. We will cross the Galveston/Houston Ship Channel by ferry. There are a number of Points of Interest in Galveston.
I plan on stopping at the Shipley’s, the Fish Market and Shrimp n’Stuff on avenue O. When leaving Galveston and transitioning from I45 to TX6, use the left lane at exit 7. Google maps is confused.

The Moody Mansion is a historic thirty-one room Romanesque mansion on the National Register of Historic Places and completed in 1895. The home is named for William Lewis Moody, Jr., an American financier and entrepreneur in the cotton business who bought the home from Galveston socialite Narcissa Willis.
Galveston socialite Narcissa Willis began construction in 1893 after her husband’s death. . As a result, Willis became estranged from her family until her death in 1899. Her children never visited the opulent mansion, and Willis lived alone in the house with a single housekeeper who was paid $1,000 a year, three tims the wages domestics earned at the time.
